Our Patron and longtime supporter, Brenda Last OBE, is a name that, for many of us, needs no introduction. A former Principal of Sadler’s Wells Royal Ballet in London (now Birmingham Royal Ballet), Miss Last has inspired countless students and instilled in them a lifelong love of dance.
On 25 October, before the start of our half term week of online classes, Miss Last will deliver her first-ever online masterclass. It will be live-streamed from our biggest studio at bbodance headquarters, Espinosa, named after the legendary dancer and teacher who founded our organisation 90 years ago.
Everyone is invited to watch it, from students to teachers, aspiring teachers, and dance lovers, bbodance members and non-. Miss Last will be sharing her experience of more than 50 years of studio teaching and, in turn, we're fortunate to be able to share it with all of you.
The masterclass will focus on a solo that Miss Last learned from Cleo Nordi, a Pavlova Company Soloist. Miss Last will pass down the heritage of this piece to Royal Ballet Soloist, Isabella Gasparini, joining her in the studio with the kind permission of Director Kevin O'Hare and The Royal Ballet.
Not to be missed for everyone who loves ballet and dance history, and, of course, for all of us who know and love Miss Last!
