bbodance is committed to the delivery of quality Examinations and supporting its members and the dance community at this time. The decision to cease Examinations in England between Thursday 5 November and Wednesday 2 December due to the second Lockdown has been taken to support the suppression of COVID-19 in a hope that no extension to this lockdown or further lockdowns will be required. This matches our decision for the Welsh firebreak lockdown and we believe that it’s in the spirit of the Government’s intentions. We will continue to keep this matter under review and will be liaising, as we have done in the past, with advisory bodies.
We are only too aware of the impact that rescheduling Examinations will have on Teachers, Candidates, and parents, along with the necessary bbodance staffing to administer this process and to ensure quality control. However, at the forefront of our minds is the safety of our communities. We have decided to err on the side of caution and will review our stance as Government guidance on permitted activities increases. Should Teachers who have Examinations booked during the second lockdown be able and willing to operate their schools in line with guidance, we will accept the submission of Digital Examinations. We feel it is inappropriate to ask Examiners to travel at this time until there is further clarity. Our support for members will continue over this second lockdown in England and I urge you to join the weekly Thursday member support meetings with Julie Bowers, Director of Artistic Development.
We wholeheartedly support the Government’s actions to try to control the virus for the long-term health of our communities.
