On our 91st anniversary, we're delighted to let you know about the launch of the Brandon Lawrence by Dansez Scholars Collection.
This dancewear collection was created by our Patron and former Scholar, Brandon Lawrence, now a Principal with Birmingham Royal Ballet, and the British manufacturer, Dansez. The collection is made entirely from a regenerated fibre that includes recycled plastic waste from the sea. Aside from being environmentally friendly, the collection will help fund the bbodance Scholars Scheme.
"Over 8 million tonnes of plastic are discarded into the sea every year, 70% of which sink into the ecosystem. Dance is such a powerful healer; especially now, during lockdown, it has helped people emotionally, mentally, physically. It makes so much sense to extend this to our environment," said the CEO of Dansez, Samantha Carney.
Although originally developed for bbodance, the Brandon Lawrence by Dansez Scholars Collection is not restricted to students; everyone can wear it and spread this powerful message!
Launched in 1975, Dansez is a trusted uniform provider for the world's finest schools and dance companies. In recent years, the brand has taken a stand for the environment, becoming the first dancewear producer to use fabrics that incorporate ECONYL®, an infinitely recyclable regenerated nylon produced from waste such as abandoned fishing nets. All Dansez products are handmade in their studios in Kent, UK.
