The bbodance Level 3 Dance Teaching Assistant Certificate is aimed at 14- to 17-year-old students who have taken Graded and Vocational Graded Examinations in Dance or equivalent, have a passion for dance teaching and wish to study for a teaching qualification in the future.
The certificate is delivered through a blended approach of guided learning, online learning, and independent study, which allows students to plan their time around their other commitments.
All webinars are recorded, so students can watch them online should they be unable to attend. Alongside this, Group Tutorials allow students to connect with other dancers from around the UK and abroad, and individual feedback from supportive tutors helps them achieve their very best.
The course lasts for 4 months & consists of 3 modules:
Module 3.1 Observation for Teaching
Module 3.2 Frameworks, Policies, and Procedures to Support Teachers
Module 3.3 Devising Dance Training Activities
As part of the course, students will be asked to observe a qualified dance teacher. This teacher should be part of the Host Dance Studio that the student has listed on the application form.
The course dates are:
- Level 2 Certificate in Vocational Graded Examination in Dance: Intermediate Foundation or Level 2 Award in Graded Examination in Dance: Grade 4 or above in any genre (or equivalent; i.e., a Level 2 Dance qualification)
- Recommended age: 14 or older (no maximum)
Additional course requirement
To complete this certificate, students must have a qualified dance teacher in a host school (a dance school that is either a bbodance Approved Centre or approved to host Regulated Performing Arts Graded Examinations offered by an awarding organisation). Please also submit the host school form when you apply for this course.
The course costs £450 and includes free Associate Membership with bbodance. The fee may be paid via three instalments of £150.
The bbodance Level 3 Dance Teaching Assistant Certificate is a standalone award recognised by the Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation (Ofqual). The knowledge and skills it helps students develop will give them a good foundation to assist in the dance studio or progress to a Level 4 course.
