We're absolutely thrilled to let you know that our Vice President, Sir David Bintley, CBE will judge the Online Choreographic Challenge together with our Patron, Brandon Lawrence, who coordinates it.
As you all know, Sir David Bintley is an internationally acclaimed choreographer and the former Artistic Director of Birmingham Royal Ballet, where Brandon is Principal. Brandon is currently featured on the July cover of The Dancing Times, of which we are immensely proud.
"I am delighted and excited by Brandon’s challenge to all aspiring young choreographers. I’m only sorry that, as I’ve agreed to be Judge, I won’t be able to enter myself, as the current lockdown has me aching to flex my own choreographic muscles! Good Luck everyone!" said Sir David.
Brandon created the Online Choreographic Challenge to support the psychological wellbeing of our students during lockdown and to stimulate their creativity. Brandon has always supported our students, Scholars, and Teaching Qualifications alumni; we are truly thankful to have such an amazing role-model.
"Having worked closely with David throughout my time at BRB, I couldn’t be more honoured to have his expertise brought to our challenge. It’s important more than ever to keep our world alive with Creation," Brandon says.
The Online Choreographic Challenge is open to all students of current bbodance teaching members — that includes all Registered Teachers and all Associate Members — from around the world. Students have to express what lockdown means to them by choreographing one of three original pieces created by the award-winning composer, Andrew Kristy.
Don't forget to submit your entry by 3 July. Good luck!
