We've recently received a feedback letter from former bbodance student, Cameron-James Bailey, who is currently in his second year at English National Ballet School. Cameron says training with us as a young student helped him develop a sense of performance and musicality. Here's an excerpt...

"I started dancing at a very young age, learning bbodance Ballet, Tap, and Modern at Robinson Read School of Dance in Bolton-le-Sands, Morecambe. My final bbodance Exams were Grade 5 and I achieved a Distinction in each!

I then went on to train at Elmhurst Ballet School for five years. While there, I performed in Birmingham Royal Ballet’s Nutcracker and on the company tour; I also worked with Matthew Bourne’s New Adventures on the curtain-raiser for Edward Scissorhands. In year 10 I was selected to represent the UK at the Cecchetti International Ballet Competition held in Florence, where I was awarded a scholarship for summer school with Oklahoma City Ballet.

Following this, in year 11 I was fortunate to be accepted into the English National Ballet School. We mainly focus on Ballet, but we also learn Contemporary, Repertoire, Choreography, Anatomy, Benesh Notation, Dance History, and other interesting subjects. During my first year, Robinson Read School of Dance recommended me for a Bursary from The Arts and Sports Trust, which has helped me a great deal.

Recently, I've also taken a step into teaching. I enjoy encouraging young dancers to enjoy Ballet, to show them how exciting it is, and that hard work pays off. [In that respect,] I'm very proud and fortunate to have learnt the bbodance syllabus from a young age, particularly Ballet. I believe it taught me many things other syllabi never could have; for example, bbodance helped bring out my sense of performance and musicality. This is something I've always been complimented on; I believe it came about through my bbodance training. Performance and musicality are very special and something extremely hard to teach a student. It's these things that the bbodance syllabus helped teach me that will always stick with me and always be an advantage. When I go back to Robinson Read in the school holidays, I thoroughly enjoy falling back into bbodance classes and using those skills I've learned to enhance my training."

Thank you for keeping in touch & all the best moving forward!
