The Dance Awards Challenge is open to all bbodance students around the world who have taken or will take a Dance Award between 1 September 2021 and 31 May 2022, inclusive, in the following categories:
- Level 1
- Level 2
- Level 3
- Level 4
Students who wish to enter the challenge must let their teachers know; teachers will submit the application for them. Students will have up to two weeks after their Dance Award to submit a filmed entry of themselves performing the same dance(s) they did during the exam.
Everyone who has taken or will take a Dance Award between 1 September and 31 May 2022 will have until 14 June 2022 to enter.
There is a limit of only one entry per candidate or group, per Award.
Each Award will have a winner, and there will also be an overall winner chosen for the entire challenge. The submissions will be judged by bbodance Vice President, Sir David Bintley CBE, and the overall winner will be announced at the Performance & Awards Ceremony at Dance Days 2022 in Birmingham, UK.
The winner of each category will perform at Dance Days, either live or recorded, and will receive a prize. The overall winner will receive the Dance Days Challenge Shield engraved with their school's name as well as a special prize. They will be able to keep the shield until Dance Days '23, when it will go to the next winner.
To enter the challenge, there is an admin fee of £5 per solo entry (1 candidate only) and £10 per group (any number of candidates). Teachers will need to have the names of their students, the Exam Reference Number, and date of their Dance Award examination on-hand to fill in the form. Once the form has been processed, teachers will receive the instructions to submit the video(s).
