Our Dance Teaching Assistant Certificate course is open to all students,
regardless of the organisation they have trained or taken examinations with. The certificate is a standalone award aimed at students age 14 and above who have taken Graded and Vocational Graded Examinations in Dance or equivalent, have a passion for dance teaching, and wish to study for a teaching qualification in the future. There's no upper age limit, so everyone interested is encouraged to get in touch.

The certificate is delivered through a blended approach of guided learning, online learning, and independent study. This allows students to have more control over the time, pace, and style of their learning. If students are unable to attend certain webinars, they will be able to watch them online.

Alongside this, Group Tutorials allow students to connect with other dancers from around the UK and abroad, and individual feedback from supportive tutors helps them achieve their very best.

The course lasts for 4-5 months & consists of 3 modules:

Module 3.1 Observation for Teaching
Module 3.2 Frameworks, Policies, and Procedures to Support Teachers
Module 3.3 Devising Dance Training Activities

As part of the course, students will be asked to observe a qualified dance teacher. This teacher should be part of the Host Dance Studio that the student has listed on the application form.

Career prospects

The bbodance Dance Teaching Assistant Certificate is a standalone award offered at Level 3 and recognised by the Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation (Ofqual). The knowledge and skills it helps students develop will give them a good foundation to assist in the dance studio or progress to a Level 4 course.
