The table below summarises the entry requirements for all our dance teaching qualifications so you can decide which course is right for you.

If you have... 

you can apply for...

  • Level 2 Dance Qualification, such as a Level 2 Certificate in Vocational Graded Examination in Dance: Intermediate Foundation, a Level 2 Award in Graded Examination in Dance: Grade 4 or above in any genre (or equivalent), or a BTEC First
    • 14+ years old
    Level 3

     

    • GCSE (or equivalent) in English (C/4)
    • Level 3 Dance Qualification, such as Intermediate or Grade 6 in Dance in any genre (or equivalent), A-Level Dance or a BTEC National
    • 17+ years old (Students must be 18 years old by 1st November for the September course and 1st May for the February course)

     

     Level 4 
    • As above ↑+ a Level 4 Teaching Qualification
      from any recognised awarding organisation (or equivalent professional teaching experience) 
    • Applicants who have had a career as a professional performing dancer may be eligible for an exemption on Level 4)
    • 18+ years old
     Level 5 

     

    • As above + a Level 5 Teaching Qualification
      from any recognised awarding organisation (or equivalent professional teaching experience)
    • Applicants interested in applying Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills (QTLS) after completing Level 6 will also require a GCSE (or equivalent) in Maths (C/5) 

     

     Level 6 

     

    Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)

    We offer Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) for our Level 4, Level 5 and Level 6 courses.
